Hello Duggan, I see your light on this morning.

I know I have courage....sometimes even serenity....but WISDOM?????  Not so sure about that one!

Today our yoga teacher read this meditation A Twisting Path: There Are No Straight Lines in Nature or in Life. It reminded me of this journey we're traveling together. Our grief journey is but one part our life's journey.

You can sign up for a daily inspirational email. Don't know if I'll do that, but I am going to get the book.

Peggy, thank you for the meditation.  How true, about the trees, and as the trees, we bend into winds and sometimes away from them.

Great analogy!

This morning, I grabbed a t-shirt from the bottom drawer...one that I hadn't worn in a long time. On the back is this quote:

Precious Human Life
Every day, think as you wake up,
Today I am fortunate to have woken up,
I am alive, I have a precious Human Life,
I am not going to waste it,
I am going to use all of my energies to develop myself,
To expand my heart out to others,
To achieve Enlightenment for the benefit of all beings,
I am going to have kind thoughts toward others,
I am not going to get angry or think badly about others
As much as I can.

                                  ~ H.H. The 14th Dalai Lama

Food for thought. What struck me today was how he suggests we don't think badly about ourselves when he says, "As much as I can." We are to strive for good and enlightenment, but also recognize that as humans, we'll mess up. I'm really trying to have that kind of compassion for myself.

It is definitely food for thought, it is about being kind to yourself and acknowledging that you are doing the best you can.

It reminds me of a conversation Clinton had with his brother Dean once, he said to Dean that he had made some bad decisions and that he felt guilty for them.  Dean, his older brother said to him, every decision you make, so long as it is not done selfishly, is a good decision - simply because it didnt work the way you had hoped does not make it bad, so dont be hard on yourself.

We need to be kinder to ourselves and acknowledge we are doing the best we can - even in our difficult situations.

Hugs to all

I only read down to this:

Quote
every decision you make, so long as it is not done selfishly, is a good decision - simply because it didnt work the way you had hoped does not make it bad, so dont be hard on yourself.

and it was so good to read.

Certain things in life hit me as good to eat. Years ago we did old floors and once they were finished I always thought I was walking on warm caramel. This quote, Duggan, makes me think: :choc2:!

Peggy and Duggan, thanks for sharing those inspirational words. I have always embraced the philosophy that we are doing the best we can at any given moment...Now, I just need to remind myself of that a bit more...

I agree.  We are doing the best we can, but in certain aspects of my life, I feel I could do better.  I can only deal with 10 things at a time, it's the 11th that falls through the cracks.  However, that doesn't stop me from continuing to try to do better.  One day I will succeed.

So Sad, I am really impressed!  I wish I could do 10 things at a time.  You have mastered the juggling act of life! :jug: :jug: :jug:  I'm still working on doing two things at once.  I may have mastered walking and chewing gum at the same time
I would say you are succeeding way more that you think!
